Designs 72 and 73.

More bees. I am really trying hard to make these damned bees work. I’m still not satisfied. I think tomorrow it will be time to move on.

Aren’t I supposed to be doing plants right now, anyway?

Here we go – got those mushrooms finished up. My process was to start in watercolor on paper, then pull them into illustrator and digitize the heck out of them so that they transformed into something new altogether. Looking at it, you’d never realize that this started out as actual paint on paper! Here’s a detail:

Then I created my pattern repeat!

My new theme sprint is: plants! I started off with a repeating pattern of an orange tree. I’ll be able to quickly repurpose the pattern to do a lemon tree, and probably a pear tree.

I’m finding it quite simple to create these repeat patterns now, even when they are somewhat complex.

This particular orange tree pattern would likely suit best as a tablecloth. See it on Redbubble.

OK, today’s my last day of this color scheme. Maybe! Tomorrow I will be either back to animals, or I may try my hand at plant-based patterns. Trees, leaves, and of course, florals.

I will no doubt use this color scheme again in the future, it’s served me well this week.

Today I went for a pattern that may work better for children’s products: rainbow rain and blue clouds. I could see working this into a baby blanket with a matching stripe as a supporting pattern.

Second to last day of the geometric rainbow designs. I’ll do my last one tomorrow and then go back to animals. However, I may do rainbow geometric animals!

I had a request for shooting stars or sound waves. I tried rainbow shooting stars but I wasn’t happy with the result. Then I tried offset sound waves and couldn’t get the repeat to work well. So I compromised with the following, which was much easier to repeat.

I’m sick in bed today so I didn’t have a lot of energy to do something really innovative. Yesterday you got straight rainbow stripes. Today you get wavy rainbow stripes.

What is cool is that someone has already purchased yesterday’s design on a phone case! Someone loves vintage rainbow colors as much as I do! In fact, I’ve made 13 sales today so far, probably a cyber monday thing.

By special request, I’ve mashed up yesterday’s Rainbow Squirrelicorn with my rainbow koala pattern from a few days ago. Rainbow Koalacorns! Not much else to say. Illustrator made the whole affair fairly straightforward.

So someone on my Facebook page quipped that my pink koalas looked naked. Go ahead, navigate back a day and look. Now that she said that I can’t unsee it – they look naked to me.

Thing is, I tried going standard gray koala and it was just plain boring. And my line on this piece isn’t quite good enough to just do black and white drawing style. My husband suggested rainbow. It was a little intense, so I decided to do rainbow ears instead.

Took me all damned day! I have no idea if I like it or if it’s any good; ask me in a couple of months. Here it is on Redbubble
