I’m still on plants and decided to finally do it – a flower. I chose a cone flower, I find them wonderful – substantial and unconventional. I started by painting but realized I wanted to pull it back and just do a lovely line drawing. Here’s where I ended up.
Tomorrow, the plan is to draw some ore variations, then maybe some bees, and put them all together into a pattern repeat. Today, I just have the single image.
See it on Redbubble, where I put it on a reddish pink background – my favorite shade of pink.
Ok, I had time for a quickie. Since all my computer equipment is packed up, today I did a simple watercolor. With a real brush and real paper and everything! It’s not ready for upload to Redbubble, and I’m not going to attempt to do that on my phone. To be digitized when I can fit it in. 🙂
Second to last day of the geometric rainbow designs. I’ll do my last one tomorrow and then go back to animals. However, I may do rainbow geometric animals!
I had a request for shooting stars or sound waves. I tried rainbow shooting stars but I wasn’t happy with the result. Then I tried offset sound waves and couldn’t get the repeat to work well. So I compromised with the following, which was much easier to repeat.
I’ve gotten to the point where I have to look up what number I’m on! I’m so proud that I’ve made it this far – but I know I’ve got a long way to go.
Today I did bees! I love bees – they are so graphic and of course so essential to the wellbeing of our planet and all its inhabitants.
I am sticking with my ‘stamped’ style of illustration for these. It’s not my only illustration style, but I did want to try to have a consistency as much as possible for this set of animal illustrations and patterns.
Speaking of patterns, today is the standalone illustration. Tomorrow will come the pattern. See it on Redbubble!
Well, in the interest of getting to bed on time I decided to put my already illustrated badgers and raccoons together into a single pattern and play with a much softer color palette and a more open design.
I’m not sure it works, and it probably won’t be going onto my final portfolio – but it was an excellent exercise for me to try something a little bit new.
It might work as a kids pattern with it’s soft colors and cartoony badgers. Sometimes I have to look at these things a month later to decide. See it on Redbubble!
