Designs 72 and 73.

More bees. I am really trying hard to make these damned bees work. I’m still not satisfied. I think tomorrow it will be time to move on.

Aren’t I supposed to be doing plants right now, anyway?

Life is nearly back to normal after the holidays, and I’m jumping right back in with both feet! I thought I might play catch up over the next few days to get me back on track!

Today I repurposed my bees and cone flowers from the previous design, creating two new patterns. One is a structured bee pattern, which I’m not so crazy about. I think I may try this again tomorrow but with a single bee rather than both, because the overall effect is a little strange.

The second one I’m pretty excited about solely because I’ve learned how to do half drop repeat patterns! It was much easier than I imagined, and it’s something I’ve been wanting to learn how to do for a while now. Again, it’s not perfect, but it’s a new technique I will work hard to perfect.

More tomorrow!

Design 69 / 365

It’s after midnight – I did what I set out to do. I drew some bees and another coneflower and fashioned it into a repeating pattern

I really did like how it looked extra large and not repeating, so on most of the Redbubble items I didn’t actually do a repeat.

I’m particularly fond of the muted blue-green that I did for the background.

I’m covered in beeeees! As promised, I created a bee pattern from yesterday’s bees. I added a subtle honeycomb texture in there, and also created a new standalone graphic that also features the honeycomb.

Let’s get straight to it. See it on Redbubble!

Now I have to go watch some Eddie Izzard

I’ve gotten to the point where I have to look up what number I’m on! I’m so proud that I’ve made it this far – but I know I’ve got a long way to go.

Today I did bees! I love bees – they are so graphic and of course so essential to the wellbeing of our planet and all its inhabitants.

I am sticking with my ‘stamped’ style of illustration for these. It’s not my only illustration style, but I did want to try to have a consistency as much as possible for this set of animal illustrations and patterns.

Speaking of patterns, today is the standalone illustration. Tomorrow will come the pattern. See it on Redbubble!
